The paper summarizes the viewpoints on dates from Doi Thong archaeological site after 35 years since its first publication. The perception of Doi Thong dates has been changing through time from the Paleolithic (the late Early - early Middle Paleolithic, or the late Paleolithic) in the beginning to supposedly the Neolithic (the Middle Neolithic, approximately 5000 BP). The criteria for determining dates have also been changed and expanded in a multi-directional direction. The criterion was initially referred to only artefacts collected on the land surface of Doi Thong, then was expanded to the combination of excavation exposing its stratigraphy, studying the process of its stratigraphical formation, classifying the artefact collection, surveying along the same river for more artefacts, that is, Doi Thong and its remains have been reviewed in the similar context of the natural condition and other archaeological sites. The article has scientifically contributed to the journey to the deep past of the ancient people on the land of Ha Giang.
