This paper presents composition analysis results of the Trần dynasty’s 30 coins using the non-destructive X-ray (XRF) method. The authors also compare it with the alloy composition of unofficial coins cast to imitate the year names of the Trần and Hồ dynasties. The coin casting alloy of the Trần dynasty has three components: Cu-Pb-Sn, without Zn. In addition, lead coins were also cast in the Trần dynasty which carried many unofficial year names that need to be studied further. The paper also lists the year names of the kings from the Trần dynasty to the Hồ dynasty to indicate which kings cast coins, which kings did not cast coins, and evaluates which types of coins were cast a lot, which types were cast less, and which were rare. The small coin border under 3.0mm is also a characteristic index of the coins before zinc was available, showing that casting coin borders wider than 3.0mm was not only aesthetic but also associated with the late alloying stage when zinc was available.
